James Suckling scores of 90 points or more to 28 Grupo Faustino wines

The acclaimed American wine taster and critic, James Suckling, has recently published the results of his annual Spanish wine tasting held in June 2019. Grupo Faustino obtained scores of 90 points or higher for more than 28 of its wines.

More than 2,100 wines were tasted during the event and it was the wines from the Group’s wineries Faustino, Campillo, Portia and Marqués de Vitoria that earned such high scores. The highest rated wines, obtaining 94 points, were: Campillo 57 Gran Reserva 2012, Campillo Finca Cuesta Clara “Raro” 2015 and Portia Summa 2015.

Following just one point behind were the wines Faustino Icon Edition 2014, Faustino & Eneko 2016, Portia Crianza 2016 and Marqués de Vitoria Reserva 2014, scoring: 93 points.

With these excellent reviews, Grupo Faustino has progressed from having 18 wines scoring 90 or more in 2018 to 28 in 2019. Thus the Group’s excellent reputation continues to grow through tastings and competitions in the international wine scene.

With more than 30 years’ experience in the sector, James Suckling is a leading light in the world of wines. Prior to retiring, he was Senior editor of the publication Wine Spectator, European bureau chief for the prestigious North American magazine The Wine Spectator and European Editor of the magazine Cigar Aficionado.

In 2010 he launched his solo career and today Jamessuckling.com is one of the most important websites in the world of wines. His tasting notes and scores are very sought after across the globe.

Acknowledgement in Decanter

In addition to Suckling’s scores, the prestigious English magazine Decanter also made a special mention of Grupo Faustino's wines. In its July edition, the magazine published the results of a tasting of the wines from the group’s different wineries, with many scoring 90+ points.

Portia Summa 2015 scored 97 points, Gran Faustino 1955 obtained 96 points, Faustino Icon Edition 2014, 95 points and Portia Prima 2016, 94+ points.

The good news just keeps on coming to Grupo Faustino and with great wines such as Portia Summa and Faustino Icon Edition, year after year, the Group’s wines continue to be among the best rated and scored in specialist circuits worldwide.
